The World Survey launch

The International Accounting Bulletin is pleased to invite you to an exclusive preview of the results of its annual in-depth survey of global accounting networks and associations on the 28th January 2010.  International Accounting Bulletin (IAB) is VRL’s leading publication for the global accounting industry and the World Survey focuses on the financial results and staff data of 35-40 of the key accounting organisations across the globe.

The leading global accounting networks and associations are surveyed and the data is then compiled into league tables.  Comprehensive interviews with global network leaders supplement the tables, providing insight on the strategies of the major players in the global professional services market.  Issues covered in the report include service line performance, opportunities and challenges in the marketplace, regulatory developments, recruitment strategies and the effects of the economic downturn. You will be given data on the revenue generated by each organisation and its fee split, as well as partner, professional and administrative staff breakdowns.

This is a unique opportunity to be presented with a clear picture about how current market conditions are affecting this industry. Participants will be able to debate the trends and key points to come out of the report. The media will be invited to this event.

The Network Debate – To Be or Not To Be?

Participants will explore the pros and cons of being a network of firms or a much looser association of independent firms.  The ramifications of this structural choice are enormous because networks have a much higher risk of vicarious liability. At present there are several important lawsuits that could have a huge impact on this debate. While a few attempts have been made to define the nature of a network, some mid-tier players are adopting a wait and see approach on whether to invest in the required infrastructure to become one. There are others who clearly prefer the association path. The roundtable will consider what current market players are doing and for what reasons you may or may not want to change the model of your organisation. Key topics include the legal implications and benefits of each model.
