Punjab and Sind Bank has transferred its IT
integration contract with Satyam to Wipro. The agreement with
Satyam was dissolved in 2009 after relevations that
Satyam's founder and chairman inflated profits. Wipro is
now responsible for system integration, management of the
bank's Finacle core banking platform and enterprise
applications to the bank's branches.

CA, Inc announced its acquisition of
privately-held 3Tera, Inc, a pioneer in cloud computing. 3Tera’s
AppLogic offers a solution for building cloud services and
deploying complex enterprise-class applications to public and
private clouds using an intuitive graphical user interface. Terms
of the agreement were not disclosed.With 3Tera – which follows CA’s
recent acquisitions of Cassatt, NetQoS and Oblicore – CA continues
to aggressively expand its portfolio of solutions to manage cloud
computing as part of an integrated information technology
management programme.

Unisys Corporation's Taiwan
subsidiary, has signed a two-year contract for a new core banking
system to support Bank of Taiwan’s seven overseas branches. The new
core banking system is also designed to help Bank of Taiwan comply
with Taiwan’s Money Laundering Control Act. Under the act, Bank of
Taiwan must check messages from the SWIFT financial network in real
time against various local and international watch lists to prevent
transactions with terrorists or other listed parties. The
application will run on two Unisys ClearPath Libra Model 400
servers – Intel Xeon processor-based open mainframe systems.

Accenture and SAS plan to expand their
strategic relationship by jointly developing, implementing and
managing next-generation predictive analytics solutions, a first
for both companies. As part of the expansion, the two companies
intend to jointly invest in the development of solutions focused on
industry-specific predictive analytics applications, starting with
the financial services, health care and public service sectors; as
well as cross-industry solutions in the customer and enterprise
management domains. They also plan to begin delivering
sophisticated analytical capabilities as a managed service.

Clear2Pay announced that its Open Payment
Framework technology is at the core of the Enterprise Services Bus
that has gone live at Bank of East Asia in Shenzhen to support its
entire business in China. In this first phase of a move towards a
bank payment hub, the Enterprise Bus Server has gone live in Q4 of
2009 to mediate between the various channels, such as corporate
internet banking and the Electronic Commercial Bill System and
back-end systems, covering both the core banking system and four
other local currency systems

Nokia, Obopay and Yes Bank will be teaming up
for a mobile banking pilot in Pune which will allow money
transfers, bill payment and top-ups through the mobile phone. The
system will be based on technology from Obopay, which Nokia has a
minority stake in.

multi-touch tabletop system, Surface. Although specifics are
unclear, the bank reportedly plans to leverage on the system, a

have appointed NYSE Euronext’s IT unit to design, build and manage
the technology for a direct market access trading link. The system
will provide integrated market data feeds from all the
participating markets and a standardised entry point for
trading.

SunGard has acquired Inmatrix, a provider of
credit risk analysis and business forecasting solutions.
Australia-based Inmatrix offers two credit management solutions:
Optimist, which helps evaluate the credit worthiness of borrowers;
and Portfolio Strategist, which helps banks develop a portfolio
view of their exposure. Both solutions will complement SunGard’s
existing Ambit Risk and Performance solution suite.

SAP Asia Pacific Japan (APJ) reported solid
growth in most markets across the region as a result of a
stabilising global economy and continued strong customer support.
SAP APJ Software and Software-related Service revenues for the
fourth quarter of 2009 increased by 19 percent (six percent
including Japan), contributing to APJ’s full-year software and
software-related services revenue total of €1.144 billion ($1.56
billion). SAP gained 13,000 new customers globally in 2009. In the
fourth quarter of 2009, key APJ wins came from defence, banking,
industrial machinery and utilities, with SAP managing to win almost
90 percent of all contested deals.

Gemalto has acquired Finnish mobile
authentication unit Valimo Wireless. Valimo enables mobile phone
users to securely authenticate themselves, digitally sign documents
and confirm legally binding transactions simply by entering a
self-chosen passphrase or a PIN code. Valimo Mobile ID solution
facilitates secure online banking, mobile payments, governmental
services, electronic and mobile commerce, and identity and access
rights management for enterprise applications. Terms of the
transaction were not disclosed.
