Two of the world’s leading financial titles, Retail Banker International and Cards International, are hosting a free high-profile roundtable event and would like to invite you to be part of the elite selected to provide thoughts, comment and views on the topical, important issue of consumer debt collection and recovery.  The roundtable, in association with Ascent/Irwin Mitchell, will bring together leading figures from the industry to discuss today’s pertinent issues.

As the UK and other leading economies pull slowly out of recession, consumer debt remains a critical and headlining challenge for the financial services industry. Debt has crept into affluent sections of society and collections departments are under increasing pressure as the volume of work grows and the amount of delinquent debt rises - costing organisations considerable amounts of money as many of these have progressed to the write-off stage.  On top of this, government involvement in the banking market coupled with high media interest has added extra pressure to the already sensitive issue of best practice in debt collection and recoveries.

There are some views that traditional collection and recoveries practices are now no longer suitable or relevant with many UK banks and building societies taking steps towards changing how they call-in money owed. But are these changes here to stay? How are the market’s key players engaging with its debtors?  How widely are methods such as SMS, email, social networking and telephoning being used?  What litigation options are there to help organisations move forward?  What technology is available to help firms? Does automated analysis of customer spending pin-point potential problems? How influential is the technology systems that support the debt collection department?  What is the attitude for internal collections teams versus outsourced groups?  What is the reality of collections in 2010 and beyond?

This prestigious and exclusive roundtable discussion will seek your views on these areas, as well as examine what trends are likely to come to the fore as we move into the next decade.  We will create an environment where people can talk freely and we shall therefore be providing any copy intended for publication for your approval. The output from the event will be captured in a special supplement of both magazines which are published by VRL, and there is an opportunity for sponsoring this supplement for an additional charge (details on request).  This is a fantastic way of promoting your name and brand amongst the industry and showcasing your business as a thought leader.
