Where:  Savoy, Central London

The 21st Century has heralded the beginning of a new era in banking; technology is providing a more convenient way to pay bills, check balances and transfer money with the use of mobile banking via Smart phones, mobile phones and the Internet.  Mobile Banking has already been widely adopted in emerging countries fuelled by the phenomenal popularity of mobiles, however, in the UK and other Western economies take-up has been slow.

Leading VRL title, Retail Banker International, an industry focused global publication, are joining forces with Fiserv, leading provider of technology solutions to the financial world, and Microsoft to host a high profile, invitation only business roundtable to place the spotlight on mobile banking in the UK.

This is a free, invitation only roundtable aimed at industry experts and authorities and we would be delighted to welcome you to provide your thoughts, comments and views on the topical, important issue of mobile banking.

Mobile penetration rates are staggering – over 90 percent in developed countries and 40 percent in developing markets such as China and India and the subsequent development of mobile commerce is particularly acute in retail banking and retail payments where mobile banking (m-banking) usage is rising. So why hasn’t this wave of enthusiasm infiltrated the UK?  The Retail Banker International/Fiserv/Microsoft roundtable will address this key question and other pertinent topics such as:

  • From a financial return on investment perspective, what is the single biggest reason for investing in mobile?
  • What have the UK banks done wrong, why is there a lack of take up in m-banking?
  • Where has mobile banking been successful?  Why has it been more successful in these regions?
  • What is the single biggest barrier to m-banking in the UK?
  • Is mobile banking the same thing as mobile payments?  Do banks and consumers see it as the same thing?
  • Is m-banking different from online banking? Why? How is it similar or the same?
  • How do you exploit applications such as texting, mobile Internet to their full potential? How can banks generate money from mobile banking?

The output from the event will be captured in a special supplement within Retail Banker International, both online and in-print. Following the roundtable, we encourage participants to stay

for wine and canapés providing an excellent opportunity for networking and to even continue the hotly debated discussions after the event.  There are limited spaces.
